Further Comments: Once a rectory, the building was said to be haunted by a figure which emerged from a grave and entered the farm, before leaving the building and vanishing back into the grave.

Grey Nun

Location: Outer London: Stanmore - Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital

Date / Time: 13 November (reoccurring), although could have last been seen 30 November 2009
Further Comments: Built on the site of a nunnery, the hospital is now visited by a gliding figure that is thought to come from the former building.

Final Battle

Further Comments: The common has been named as a contender for the last battle of Boudica, though Jennifer Westwood and Jacqueline Simpson state this story may have come into being in the nineteenth century.

Child in the Cellar

Location: Outer London: Sutton - Angel Public House

Further Comments: A former manager of the pub reported hearing a child's voice in the cellar, where doors would shut and barrels shift with no human intervention. A strange man would also be seen walking up and down the side of the pub in the mornings.

The Taxman

Further Comments: Both a taxman and royal messenger have been killed on the staircase during the building's history. Both figures are now reported to haunt the stairs.

Footsteps

Location: Outer London: Sutton - Century Cinema (no longer standing), Cheam

Further Comments: The phantom footfalls have been heard moving across the stage area, several previous managers mistaking the sounds for that of intruders.

Royal Messenger

Location: Outer London: Sutton - Convent of the Daughters of the Cross, Pound Street, Carshalton

Further Comments: Killed by a fall down the stairs (he was pushed after delivering bad news), this former courier now haunts the steps on which he died. Two more ghosts haunt the long galley; a butler murdered a housemaid in the area, and their earthbound souls have been watched re-enacting the scene.

Medieval Visitors

Location: Outer London: Sutton - Fairlawns, Croydon Lane, Woodmansterne

Further Comments: Three different entities were identified haunting this house - two men and a woman all wearing clothing dating back to medieval times. The entities were spotted around the site and said to have caused footsteps along empty corridors and rapping from the walls. A series of seances finally laid the ghosts to rest.

Man in Grey

Location: Outer London: Sutton - Former cinema at Rosehill

Further Comments: This figure appeared several times to members of staff, slowly disappearing if approached or spoken to. During the 1950s, residents complained of loud organ music coming from the building in the early hours of the morning, even though the organ had been removed several years previously.

Former Customer

Further Comments: A team of ghost hunters investigating reports of a grey man in this bingo hall encountered strange noises and a bright light during their investigation. During a previous visit, they claimed to have contacted the ghost of a former customer who had committed suicide in 1965.

Invisible Mare

Further Comments: Heard but never seen, a horse would gallop up to the gates of the house before stopping.

Walter Raleigh.

Walter & Liz

Further Comments: Local legend has the ghosts of Elizabeth I and Sir Walter Raleigh frequenting this area together, dating from when the latter lived at nearby Carew Manor.

Man's Voice

Further Comments: It was reported that while crossing the park at night using phones as torches, two witnesses also recorded the voice of an unhappy man saying 'vanity' and 'get out', amongst other short statements.

Cavalier

Further Comments: A couple were disturbed in their bedroom one night by a ghostly Civil War cavalier.

Older Lady

Location: Outer London: Sutton - Private residence, Wallington
Type: Post-Mortem Manifestation

Further Comments: A new mother was hanging out washing in the garden, with her baby in a pram nearby. A older lady who lived next door popped her head over the fence and asked how the baby was doing. The mother chatted with the lady, but after taking the empty washing basket back indoors, suddenly realised the old lady had died before the baby was born.

Bishop Andrews

Further Comments: Bishop Andrews occupied this building in the reign of Elizabeth I and haunted the site for many years after his death. While sightings of Andrews have diminished, now the rectory is said to be home to several spirits, including three Cavaliers.

Further Comments: The building is reportedly haunted by a woman who stands by the fireplace.

Sir Walter Raleigh

Further Comments: Raleigh's headless body was returned to his wife's family in Beddington; his ghost said to walk along a path in the churchyard.

Elderly Gentleman

Further Comments: A customer reported seeing the reflection of an older man in the mirror of the toilet, although no one matching the description was even in the building at the time. The pub has also experienced glass bottles exploding without reason, locked doors which swing open and footprints left on freshly mopped floors which do not match anyone on site. CCTV has picked up lights and the figure of a man in a locked room.

Highwayman

Further Comments: A woman out walking in the area reported seeing a phantom highwayman who rode past her - the terrified witness ran back to her family.

Mrs Ryan

Location: Outer London: Waltham Forest - Beacontree Road

Further Comments: The shade of an old lady haunted one property along this road, frequenting the room where her family would keep her locked up. Another presence, this time male, was more dominating; it would materialise during the night and stand over the beds of any females present in the house.

Workman

Further Comments: The station is said to be haunted by the ghost of a workman who died during the construction. A figure has been observed on the platform late at night, and his footsteps heard in other parts of the station.

Hunter in the Darkness

Further Comments: The hall is said to be haunted by a creature that strikes in pitch blackness; local stories tell of a tramp that once spent a night in the building, only to be found insane the following day.

Footsteps

Further Comments: People have reported strange voices and the sounds of footsteps walking on the grass behind them - though no one is present when the witnesses look around. A spectral man dressed in black rides on horseback between the graves, occasionally dismounting before vanishing.

White Lady

Further Comments: Shortly after moving in, a family demanded to be relocated after a white lady manifested in front of a four-year-old boy and ordered the child to leave. The family dog refused to enter the boy's bedroom.
