Further Comments: Falling insane after penance took its toll, a friar cursed the church and anyone who stood in its shadow. Another tale reports it is the rock summit of Raggedstone Hill that casts the cursed shadow.

Further Comments: Bob Dylan, Kevyn Gammond, and a handful of other musicians visited the site together in the 1960s to hunt ghosts. Dylan reportedly heard a barking dog, one of two ghosts supposed to haunt the site, although others with him were not so sure. A photograph taken in the 2000s shows a figure standing in a window, although it is more than likely little more than a reflection and pareidolia. The ghostly Lady Dudley is also reputed to remain here.

Further Comments: The new owner of a house forced open a room that had remained locked for several years due to a rumoured ghost. While no ghosts were discovered, two solid silver pieces of plate were found in old boxes that fell apart when touched.

Further Comments: This local lass drowned herself in the village pond, now covered over. She was blamed for a brief poltergeist outbreak in the bar during the early eighties.

Further Comments: The shade of the Lady, together with a phantom white calf, would be seen moving around the house revealing all the secret priest holes once a year - during life she performed the same task, feeding those who hid within. The grounds are now said to be haunted by a young girl wearing a tartan dress, quietly crying and looking for her mother.

Further Comments: Workers in the castle were too scared to visit the attic, where it is said the ghost haunts. The basement in turn is haunted by a raven that attacks any source of light taken down there.

Further Comments: One story says that this decapitated shade that appears once a year still mourns the passing of her husband Robert Wintour, executed on 31 January 1606 for playing a part in the Gunpowder Plot. One November evening, a couple driving past the court spotted what they believed to be a person riding a bike, but as they passed, realised the figure to be a woman in a cloak who vanished. The couple stopped at a nearby pub, and being visibly shaken, the landlord guessed that they had encountered Lady Wintour, who would glide down the lane.

Further Comments: While hunting for the locally named 'Beast of Inkberrow', Nick and Sally Dyke discovered the cat in the churchyard - it knocked Nick over and took a swipe at Sally before running off. She was left with three ten centimetre long claw marks down one side.

Further Comments: Two women walking their dogs encountered a ghostly apparition here. While one of the witnesses described the figure as a black human shape, the other perceived more detail and said the entity looked like a grinning Victorian farm hand.

Further Comments: One story said the site to be haunted by the first landlady to run the pub, killed by her husband as he discovered both her and her secret lover embraced on the steps outside the building. Her footsteps could be heard along the corridors. A 1967 newspaper article reported the tale to have been an invention of owner Jack Wilding, who believed ghost stories to be good for business.

Further Comments: Described as a friendly phantom, the ghost of Sir Rowland would open locked doors and could be heard walking along empty corridors. One witness answered the phone to an internal call, the voice sounding old-fashioned, 'weird and eerie'. A shadowy figure would also be seen at the switchboard. It is not clear why Rowland Hill was identified as the ghost.
