Further Comments: Travelling along a busy road, one witness watched a circle of white light slowly cross the rooftops of four houses, as if a huge torch had been shone on the surfaces, before disappearing. Nothing could be seen in the sky, and there were no vehicles on the road that could have caused the light.

Further Comments: Jim Templeton, while taking family photographs, caught on film a strange white figure wearing what appears to be a spacesuit floating behind his daughter. Jim stated that the figure was not visible at the time of taking the photograph. Author David Clarke wrote that the figure is likely to have been Templeton's wife Annie, the 'spaceman' illusion created by overexposure.

Further Comments: Initially thought to be a star, a small bright ball of light started to follow this witness in her car as she returned from Christmas shopping. As the car reached the edge of Carnwath, the ball suddenly shot into the sky and disappeared.

Aurora Borealis is rare, but not unknown, over England.

Further Comments: Now thought likely to be Aurora Borealis, parish records mention a bright light over the skies of the village, changing from white to the colours of the rainbow. Occasionally flashes of light and smoke could be seen.

Further Comments: Filmed by a witness for several minutes, a round ball of white light darted around the sky. The light changed shape and size several times before finally disappearing behind a dark cloud.

Further Comments: A witness here watched a bright object for around twenty seconds before it disappeared into a dark and heavy snow cloud.

Further Comments: Elsie Oakensen saw this craft as she drove through the village, returning from work. Passing underneath, her car lost power, and she experienced fifteen minutes of 'missing time' - later hypnotic regression revealed she was taken on board the craft.

Further Comments: A rumour floating around on the internet said that a cigar-shaped ufo, around six metres in length, was forced down by two RAF fighters. The crashed craft deeply embedded itself in mud, and rather move it straight away, authorities buried the ufo with the intent to move it once interest died down. Whether this happened is unknown.

Further Comments: During Mass, the congregation at this church were interrupted as an anchor dropped from the sky and caught on the church door. The people investigated and spotted a ship floating above them; one of the crew diving overboard and swimming towards them through the air towards the anchor. The congregation grabbed the sailor, but the bishop demanded that they let him go. As the group released the man, he floated upwards and once on board the ship, someone cut the rope attached to the anchor - the ship sailed off into the sky. The anchor was said to have been on display at the church.

Further Comments: A group of children playing football watched a light dart around the sky at incredible speed. It momentarily stopped moving before darting off once again in the direction of the A12 road. The light later returned to the area and was seen by other witnesses.

Further Comments: The famous black and white photograph of three discs flying over the town taken by a 15 year old schoolboy remains a mystery to this day.

Further Comments: After a wind turbine was found damaged (one blade bent, another laying on the ground), several theories emerged to explain why the incident had happened. County councillor Robert Palmer reported seeing a round white light which hovered near the area, while the media reported that John Harrison had seen a massive ball of light with something akin to tentacles reaching for the ground. While the 'ufo hit our turbine' stories were popular with the media, there is a high chance that the blade just fell off, hitting the second blade as it fell.

Further Comments: In what could be an early UFO sighting, a man walking along the beach watched a localised 'fog bank' sitting on the sand, with a huge flagpole sticking out. After ten minutes, the object rose and faded from view.

Further Comments: While staying with relatives, a witness watched a saucer shaped object with blue lights. The saucer was bright metal, and the object hovered for a while before moving off at high speed. The witness ran downstairs to tell someone but was so shocked that they were unable to speak and soon realised that even although the sighting only appeared to last a few minutes, three hours had gone by.

Further Comments: Witnesses outside Crawley railway station watched two rockets heading west, with other reports coming from across Sussex during the same week.

Further Comments: A mother thought her daughter had been attacked after hearing her screaming along the road. As she ran inside, the mother received a call from the mother of her daughter's friend who said that they had seen a flying saucer with coloured lights around it. The mother ran outside and spotted the object in the sky.

Further Comments: A witness walking to the nearby college suddenly realised there was no traffic on the roads. Something made him look up only to see a large a fifty pence (heptagon) shaped craft hovering silently in the sky. It had a red underbelly, bright silver sides and moved from left to right. The witness looked down briefly, during which time the craft started to move away at incredible speed. The witness chased it across the road (traffic had appeared again) but it had disappeared. The witness later found out that he had lost an hour of time.

Further Comments: From the passenger seat, a witness watched a silver ball bearing-like object hovering in the sky. The large, stationary object hung quite low and did not move for two minutes, despite the windy conditions.

Further Comments: Four orange balls of light were spotted silently floating in the sky, forming a pyramid. They remained for quite some time.

Further Comments: Driving home from his shop, as Robin Peck approached the village his van's engine cut out. He climbed out of the vehicle and as he lifted the car's bonnet, Robin realised that this hair was standing up. It was then Robin realised that a glowing, saucer shaped object was hovering around ninety metres away. After a short while, the object darted away, and the van started working again.
