Further Comments: Louis was murdered while staying at the inn. Dressed in clothing worn by the French Aristocracy, Louis's ghost has been observed in the past, though hearing his dying scream was said to be more common. Phantom children were also reported on the site.

Water Spirit

Further Comments: Members of staff have reported seeing a misty grey man standing behind the bar and hearing the cries of a girl coming from the cellar. Local stories claimed a smuggler's tunnel ran from the building down to the river, and that Matthew Hopkins hanged a woman just outside the inn.

Lola Taplin

Further Comments: Once the landlady here, the short tempered spirit of Lola now haunts the bar, occasionally throwing food and other objects around the room. One witness reported a feeling of sadness and felt herself being poked in the side. One local legend says that Lola Taplin has taken the form of an owl and watches over the pub.

The Cricketers Inn in Brighton.

Pale Man

Further Comments: Bottles and glasses would fall off shelves, doors were heard to slam shut, and footsteps were heard climbing the stairs. On several occasions a pale man wearing a long black cloak was spotted by one manager. In addition, the grey nun which haunts the Lanes has been seen just outside the inn.

Child's Footsteps

Beaten Children

Further Comments: This polt remained on the site for a year. It became infamous for throwing glasses, disturbing the occupants through constant tapping and rapping, and beating the children. The activity ceased after the family sought out the help of a cunning woman who said they had been cursed and provided them with a counter-ritual.
