Further Comments: A former worker at this site said it was haunted by a grey lady, who could have been the wife of a caretaker or a cleaner. The entity would open and close doors and would be seen looking out of a window from the street. Footsteps would also be heard on the site.

Further Comments: Jack's Mountain was a local name for a massive pile of rubbish and slag which stood, by some accounts, 30 metres tall. A local legend said that the Devil lurked on top.

Further Comments: A tenant in a flat here reported their home as being haunted by a former occupant seen walking around the site holding his throat. A priest was called to perform an exorcism, although the outcome of the ritual is not known.

Further Comments: An apprentice joiner spotted three bright orange globe-shaped lights in the sky while walking from work. He rushed home and told his parents, who laughed at his tale until a local radio broadcast mentioned several people had reported orange lights over the city.

Further Comments: Shortly after construction of the school, people started to report seeing white figures flitting around, attributing the ghosts to a nearby mill disaster which took several lives. The rumour attracted a crowd, reportedly between three and four thousand people, which police dispersed. Detectives declared the ghosts were an illusion caused by lamplight from neighbouring houses reflecting off glossy maps which, in turn, were caught in a draft from an open window.

Further Comments: While talking to her friend by her car on the fourth level, one driver watched a young woman walk across the car park, jump up onto the edge before jumping off. The driver was extremely upset, and asked her friend to check if the young woman was okay - but there was no body and no evidence anyone had fallen.

Further Comments: A museum security guard reported encountering several spooky occurrences during his time working here, including the screams of children, balls of blue light and sightings of a headless woman.

Further Comments: A photograph taken at this museum revealed a pale, bright little girl waving at the camera. Some claimed the image showed a ghostly Victorian child, while others believed the photograph to be an over-exposed person or a photoshopped fake.

Further Comments: A grey haired lady who died in theatre three many years ago is still said to haunt the area. Staff report a fleeting glance of her ghost before it vanishes.

Further Comments: At least one nurse has claimed to have seen a ward sister walking around at night, normal looking other than the fact the apparition appears to be cut off at the knee. Ward 27 is reported to be home to Archie, a ghostly elderly man who wears a bun net and can be seen talking to dying patients. More recently, while answering an arrest call, a doctor was asked the way out by a patient. The doctor pointed over his shoulder as he continued to run down the corridor. When the doctor reached the patient, who had died, he realised that it was the same man who had asked for directions.

Further Comments: This bar is haunted by a former landlord who, during the 1970s, hanged himself in the cellar. Other spirits also lurk here; a green lady lurks the bar, Willy sits in a room, while Annie has apparently contacted a visiting psychic. The image of a green glowing shape which appeared online in 2023 was dismissed by staff at the bar as a reflection of the emergency exit signage.

Another story, most likely false, says that the line between this station and West Street was briefly haunted by a clattering and a ball of light during its construction/renovation prior to 1897.

Further Comments: One witness reported seeing a bright orange light moving slowly below the cloud line. The witness then heard a massive roar, like fighter planes, heading towards the light. The light shot upwards and disappeared into clouds.

Further Comments: An urban myth circled the area during the 1950s that the graveyard was home to a vampire with iron teeth. At the story's height, it is said that hundreds of children patrolled the site, looking for the monster which, they thought, had kidnapped and eaten two local children. Another story to emerge from the Necropolis is that of the white woman - a feminine statue that sits on top of the grave of three people killed in a tramcar accident is said to turn its head and watch visitors as they pass.
