Further Comments: A drone operator caught a figure in black standing within the priory grounds, although there is little to suggest that the figure is not 'real'.

Charlotte

Further Comments: This bakery hit the headlines after it was reported to be haunted by an entity named Charlotte. She was said to be harmless, although she was blamed for throwing baking trays and bread, flicking lights on and spelling the first three letters of her name in spilt caster sugar.

Sea Captain

Further Comments: An old sea captain reputedly haunts this site, possibly from the building's time as a post First World War military hospital.

Unknown Male

Location: Outer London: Bromley - Viola, Crescent Road

Further Comments: The spectral image of a man was seen several times in a bedroom in his house.

Royal Messenger

Location: Outer London: Carshalton - Convent of the Daughters of the Cross, Pound Street

Further Comments: Killed by a fall down the stairs (he was pushed after delivering bad news), this former courier now haunts the steps on which he died. Two more ghosts haunt the long galley; a butler murdered a housemaid in the area, and their earthbound souls have been watched re-enacting the scene.

Man's Voice

Further Comments: It was reported that while crossing the park at night using phones as torches, two witnesses also recorded the voice of an unhappy man saying 'vanity' and 'get out', amongst other short statements.

Young Woman

Further Comments: The building is reportedly haunted by a woman who stands by the fireplace.

The Ghosts' Promenade

Location: Outer London: East Barnet - Church Hill Road

Further Comments: So many phantom encounters along this road led to a Justice of the Peace to name it 'The Ghosts' Promenade'. The ghosts were said to include headless humans and dogs, and phantoms in the trees.

Grey Lady

Location: Outer London: East Barnet - Grange

Further Comments: Up until at least the early twentieth century, locals believed the area to be haunted by a grey lady.

Cricket Pavilion

Location: Outer London: East Barnet - Oak Hill Park
Type: Environmental Manifestation
Date / Time: An evening in winter, 1986/87
Further Comments: Walking his dog through the park, this witness spotted what looked like a cricket pavilion with a veranda about 100 yards from him. The building was quite brightly lit, illuminated from the outside. The witness was a little surprised never to have seen the building before, but being new to the area, was not perturbed. Walking back the same way a little later, the building had gone. Neighbours told him that they could not recall a pavilion ever being on the site.

Sir Geoffrey de Mandeville

Further Comments: Sir Geoffrey, complete with red cloak and jangling spurs, appears here on horseback and heads towards the church to disappear through its wall. Even though the ghost is said to appear on Christmas Eve, the last verified sighting of Sir Geoffrey was on 17 December 1932.

Joanna's Tree

Further Comments: The oak tree under which eighteenth century prophetess Joanna Southcott once sat and received a vision that she was mentioned in the Book of Revelation burst into flame on a clear summer's day.

The Enfield Poltergeist Case

Location: Outer London: Enfield - 284 Green Street

Further Comments: In a case covered by the world's media, the Enfield poltergeist reportedly centred itself on a young girl named Janet, using her vocal cords to communicate. She claimed the entity would throw her out of bed at night, and other witnesses reported spontaneous fires and items moving themselves.

Black Coach

Location: Outer London: Enfield - Bell Lane, Enfield

Date / Time: Varies: weeks leading up to Christmas (reoccurring), last seen November 1961
Further Comments: A popular local story tells of the Phantom Coach of Enfield, flying two metres off the ground where the road once lay. Seen a couple of times in the twentieth century, the ghostly passengers are said to be quite clear and distinct. A 14 year old boy cycling close to Albany Park School claimed to have passed through the apparition.

De Mandeville

Location: Outer London: Enfield - Camlet Moat, Enfield Chase

Further Comments: Dying in an accident while trying to bury his treasure (or by suicide by drowning himself in the moat), Sir Geoffrey De Mandeville has returned to watch over his fortune, dressed in his knightly armour.

Old Lady

Location: Outer London: Enfield - Crown and Horseshoes public house

Further Comments: Thought to be a former landlady, this ghost prefers to be heard walking around and knocking on doors, rather than be seen.

Further Comments: It is said that the sensation of being either watched or followed by something unseen exists in this seventeenth century building.

Floating Figure

Further Comments: Jason Hollis in Haunted Enfield wrote that this location was haunted by a floating figure dressed in black. One witness who encountered the entity was left traumatised by its maggot eaten face.

Old Witch

Location: Outer London: Enfield - Hadley Road, Enfield

Further Comments: An old woman who once lived along this stretch of road was executed in 1622 for being a witch - on cold misty nights, her ghostly form now returns.

Nimbus

Location: Outer London: Enfield - Hadley Wood railway - south tunnel

Further Comments: Since being cut up for scrap in 1980, the diesel powered 'Nimbus' has been spotted running along the tracks.

Pin Stripped Trousers

Location: Outer London: Enfield - Myddelton House, Bull's Cross

Further Comments: Speaking in an interview, a former caretaker said she had seen a few ghosts on this property, including a pair of pin striped trousers (the upper part of the body was not visible) and lights flickering around near the stables.

Moving Picture

Further Comments: Many experiences were reported by the family living here, including a picture which was taken off a wall (even though it was nailed there), voices and noises heard from the loft, and another voice which said, 'get out of my house'.

Mr Danby

Location: Outer London: Enfield - Road between Enfield and Barnet

Date / Time: Nineteenth century
Further Comments: Mr Danby died on the road in 1832, his throat slashed by an unknown assassin. A few years later his ghost returned and gave chase to a passing horse-drawn carriage (much to the horror of the occupants).

Turpin and Bess

Location: Outer London: Enfield - Rose & Crown public house, Clay Hill

Further Comments: Reportedly once owned by Dick Turpin's grandfather, the highwayman would visit the family when he needed to hide out. His ghostly form has been seen both inside and out, sometimes accompanied by his horse.

Further Comments: The phantom that was reported to haunt this site, opening windows and knocking on doors, was named as the Rabbi who founded this Synagogue.
