Lost Pilot

Further Comments: Seen walking along the east/west runway of this former fighter base, a ghostly figure wears a pilot's uniform dating back to the Second World War. The residence of the station commander is also reputedly haunted, with one occupant hearing someone sitting on a creaky seat throughout the night and feeling its presence (although it was described as non-malevolent). One story says the Officers' Mess is home to a couple of ghosts, while on a road outside the base, a phantom Polish pilot from the Second World War asks for directions - the man died when his aircraft crashed a short distance away.

White Lady
Location: Outer London: Ealing - River Brent, Coston's Lane, Greenford

Further Comments: It is said that the white lady died with her husband in the 1890s when their horse and trap slipped into the swollen river during bad weather. They were swept away; the lady was found a half mile downstream and her husband and his horse were recovered from under the old wooden bridge. It is believed she continues to look for her husband.

Footsteps

De Mandeville

Old Lady

Old Witch

Nimbus

Pin Stripped Trousers

Further Comments: Speaking in an interview, a former caretaker said she had seen a few ghosts on this property, including a pair of pin striped trousers (the upper part of the body was not visible) and lights flickering around near the stables.

Moving Picture

Mr Danby

Further Comments: Mr Danby died on the road in 1832, his throat slashed by an unknown assassin. A few years later his ghost returned and gave chase to a passing horse-drawn carriage (much to the horror of the occupants).

Turpin and Bess

Uneasy Sound

The Enfield Poltergeist Case

Further Comments: In a case covered by the world's media, the Enfield poltergeist reportedly centred itself on a young girl named Janet, using her vocal cords to communicate. She claimed the entity would throw her out of bed at night, and other witnesses reported spontaneous fires and items moving themselves.

Black Coach

Further Comments: A popular local story tells of the Phantom Coach of Enfield, flying two metres off the ground where the road once lay. Seen a couple of times in the twentieth century, the ghostly passengers are said to be quite clear and distinct. A 14 year old boy cycling close to Albany Park School claimed to have passed through the apparition.

Man walking Dog

Further Comments: A driver reported to the police that he had just run over a man walking a dog - both had gone over his car bonnet in the collision, but when the driver stopped and climbed out of his vehicle, he could not find either man or dog, nor any damage to his car.

Woman and Child

Joe

Further Comments: Canon Pearce-Higgins and a medium visited the property and attempted to remove the poltergeist that caused items to move around on shelving and rearrange chairs in rooms. The owner returned the following day and said although the bangs and noises had not gone completely, they were quieter. Another medium arrived a day later and claimed the entity was named Joe, who had died in a car accident.

Colonel Mulliner

Orange Jellyfish

Further Comments: A family of four observed a set of three orange lights, 'undulating like a jellyfish', drifting over the town and heading upwards before they disappeared amongst the stars. The UFOs were also witnessed by two people on the outskirts of Romford.

Victorian Man looking Worried

Further Comments: While slowing down, a train passed a man dressed in Victorian clothing standing in a small brick building, looking very surprised to see the locomotive. A curious passenger investigated further and found the building no longer existed.

The Ayloffs

Roman soldiers have been seen walking through walls in the basement, and a lady in white has been seen on the lower half of the stairs. Another lady seen on the stairs is thought to be Martha Ayloff, while Anne Ayloff, wearing a lavender dress, haunts the room adjacent to room 7.

Moving Chair

Further Comments: CCTV recorded what appears to be a chair moving unaided in the theatre, although some claim that the movement is an optical illusion caused by a water droplet on the lens of the camera.
