Further Comments: This flute-playing figure was seen and heard on the lanes, in trees and behind bushes in this village, with the music produced described as enchanting but with an underlying danger. The same area is haunted by a pale white calf.

Red Eyes

Location: Liskeard (Cornwall) - Park Fenton, Liskerrett Road and surroundings
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: May 1990
Further Comments: Staying on what was a traveller's site, this witness felt a strange 'force' swarm over their van. The benevolent energy remained for around a minute before leaving. The witness ran out of the van and into their friend's coach to share the story, only to find out it had happened to other people who had parked in the same spot. Other travellers had reported red animal eyes looking through their windows, and one other person had seen a procession of ghostly figures down nearby Lake Lane.

White Lady

Location: Little Haven (Dyfed) - Castle Hotel

Further Comments: This spook is reportedly a woman whose body was found on the nearby beach. A long dead cat is also reported to play on the beds at night, while a man in 'modern' dress is said to slowly materialise from the feet up.

Stabbed Bulldog

Location: Littleport (Cambridgeshire) - Bulldog Bridge, which connects Littleport & Shippea Hill

Further Comments: After saving a local girl from a friar who attempted to rape her, the dog was killed by her attacker. It can now be seen crossing the bridge.

White Horse

Location: Llangynwyd (Mid Glamorgan) - Roads in the area

Further Comments: Even the most fearless residents of the village felt terror when they encountered this phantom, snow-white mare along the roads at night.

White Horse

Location: Loch Dornoch (Highland) - Straight piece of road lined with trees on both sides

Further Comments: Witness Mr Morrison stopped his car suddenly when he encountered a white horse ridden by a Victorian man in the middle of the road. Both entities vanished quickly into the distance.

Further Comments: A white horse once haunted the area around the house. Another animal ghost was reputedly a mole - a former resident declared that she would haunt the garden she loved in the form of the furry mammal, and so she did.

Sir John Plumley

Further Comments: Hanged for his part in the Monmouth revolt, Sir John and his dog are now seen on his former property. His wife also puts in the occasional appearance - she killed herself after her husband's execution.

Dogs

Location: Logierait (Perth and Kinross) - Ballechin House (demolished 1963)

Date / Time: Nineteenth Century
Further Comments: The house was haunted by the sounds of arguing, rapping, and an invisible force that felt like a dog pushing against people's legs. This 'dog' was quite common, many people felt it, and other pet dogs brought into the house appeared happy to play with an invisible friend. A phantom nun was also said to walk the garden.

Further Comments: This white creature has been observed running down the hill, disappearing as it reaches the public house. It is considered an ill omen if seen, and thought to be the spirit of a young woman who took her own life.

White Cow

Location: Lydham (Shropshire) - Michell's Fold stone circle
Type: Legend
Date / Time: Pre-eighteenth century
Further Comments: During times of drought or hardship, a white cow would appear in the middle of the circle and allow everyone in the neighbourhood to fill one bucket with milk. Michell, a local witch after whom the circle was later named, milked the cow into a sieve until the creature vanished.

Further Comments: A group of miners playing cards invited a passing stranger to join their game. He sat with them, quickly winning all hands, although the game quickly came to an end when the miners fled, having realised their guest had cloven feet.

Horses

Location: Maesteg (Mid Glamorgan) - St David's Church

Further Comments: A legend once said that horses were driven around the area of the church by an invisible entity. Fire emerging from the horses' nostrils would be blamed for darkened grass and the flaking paint on fencing. In the same area, a phantom donkey was said to have been banished after a man kicked the creature.

Further Comments: Walking her dogs, this witness heard and felt a large horse trotting towards her. She called the dogs to one side, to let the rider pass, but upon turning around, she could see nothing there.

Headless Cat

Location: Manchester (Greater Manchester) - Private house along Lower Seedley Road, Seedley

Further Comments: For a two month period, until they finally moved out, a family endured the sounds of a cat in terrible pain. During the haunting, the lady of the house was found unconscious - she said she had encountered a headless cat which pawed at her legs.

Further Comments: A former occupier of the rectory reported seeing a woman driving a pig over the lawn. She turned briefly to call for her husband, and when she looked again the woman and hog had vanished.
