Further Comments: There are many spooky stories told by past and present staff; the empty lift moves between floors at night, many reports of phantom figures exist, and sounds of footsteps are heard along deserted corridors. The bells for the call system have also gone off in empty rooms.

Tiny Alien

Further Comments: A local woman took several photographs to test the camera on her new phone. The photographer later realised one of the images showed a tiny, 'grey' alien-like figure apparently walking along the road.

Rain of Stones
Location: St Helens - Beecham's Pill Manufactory (now part of St Helens College)

Further Comments: A poltergeist-like outbreak of stones that would rain down on floor workers resulted in police being deployed to find the source. A newspaper later reported that one officer spotted a man acting suspiciously, and when challenged, showed the policeman a mechanism that would catapult stones into the air. However, Mr Beecham disagreed with the report and said the mystery had never really been solved.

White Figure

Further Comments: This pale figure, thought to be connected to the archaeological dig in the same area, is said to have once pushed a motorcyclist from his bike. It is still seen, normally lurking behind trees.

Face at the Window
Location: St Helens - Croppers Hill, Prescot Road

Further Comments: A factory which once stood here was reportedly haunted by a figure that would stare longingly through the windows of the building. Though the building no longer stands, local children still scare each other by saying the area remains haunted.

Landing UFO
Location: St Helens - Field in Rainhill area

Further Comments: Robert Bennett told the St Helens Star newspaper how he had worked with police and radio enthusiasts in chasing a strange craft across the St Helens sky. The pursuit ended after three police officers watched the ufo take off after landing in a field.

Stone Throwing

Further Comments: Stones, bricks, and potatoes would be thrown along this street after the sun went down. A projectile knocked off a police constable's helmet and other people suffered near misses. Although the local press played up the supernatural aspect of the incidents, the police believed they were looking for 'someone in the flesh'.

Throaty Hiss

Further Comments: A visitor to the property heard a breathy, throaty hiss at the base of their bed. A few seconds later the same noise repeated next to their ear. The visitor said out loud that they were not scared and the sound ceased.

Grey Lady

Further Comments: Two girls walking a dog spotted a ghostly figure emerge from nearby bushes. The ghost took the form of a young girl with shoulder-length blonde hair, wearing nineteenth century dress.

Further Comments: There are several people in the running who could be this ghost (including a former manager and a Second World War pilot), who wears a black suit and long coat.
