Further Comments: Two people travelling to the ferry in the early hours of the morning drove past a man walking along the isolated road. He wore a dark woollen coat with a bowler hat, and carried an umbrella and a briefcase. The night sky was pitch black, and the man did not have a light source. The witnesses remained curious about the figure for years afterwards, as he was so out of place, and later found out the area was haunted by a figure dressed in similar clothing, woefully inadequate for the environment he walks.

Further Comments: A stone known as Clach na Glaistig would be washed with a portion of milk every evening to thank a ghost for keeping the calves and cows separate at night. The entity was said to have a face resembling a lichen-covered stone.

Further Comments: The black dog around this area would warn of impending death. One version of the story says that dog carried a puppy on the back of its head. In 1909, Dr MacDonald spotted the dog while treating chief Murdoch Gillian MacLaine - his patient died soon after.

Further Comments: Dugald Campbell noticed a strange little red cow being attacked by the rest of his herd. The red cow ran off with the rest of the herd giving chase. Campbell followed and watched as the red cow entered a solid piece of rock, closely followed by one of his cows. The rest of the herd, intercepted by Campbell, were prevented from vanishing into the rock.

Further Comments: More often heard than seen, when this Glaistig did manifest, she took the form of a very short woman with golden hair that came down to her heels. The entity left after being beaten over the head with a stick.

Further Comments: A guest awoke to the sounds of quiet laughter and rummaging. As the guest sat up, they spotted a black-clad figure who vanished when the light was switched on. The guest searched the room but no one was there. After they returned to bed, the guest watched several small balls of light flit around the room. Another visitor to the hotel during the late 1990s reported on a local forum that he had witnessed a dark figure walking around his room before vanishing. The nephew of former owners believed the site to be haunted.

Further Comments: This mountain is haunted by an old man in a bowler hat. A gold watch chain crosses the figure's waistcoat and he carries a parcel under one arm. It is unclear whether it is the same man which a Glasgow university lecturer encountered while in the area; the figure left no footprints in the snow and said he was going to catch a train before disappearing.

Further Comments: Watched by a farmer for two hours, this mermaid had a pale upper body and a red/grey tail covered in hair. Its face was human, with deep-set eyes and short neck. The creature combed the hair on its head with what looked like short, stubby arms before diving into the water and washing its torso.
