Further Comments: Shortly after taking over the running of the pub licensee Vic Terry and his wife both spotted a phantom woman in white on separate occasions. The figure was described as friendly and seemingly made from white material.

Further Comments: Susan was killed when a prank went wrong - she was so upset she attacked the people responsible and was mortally wounded as they defended themselves. She died in a guest room at the public house. Since then, the pale white form of Sukie (as she is affectionately known) has been observed in bedrooms and by the fireplace.

Further Comments: The ghost that haunts this pub would vanish suddenly, leaving only a shadow which persisted for several seconds after the disappearance. A former landlord of the pub stated his dog would sit and bark at one room but would not dare enter.

Further Comments: This ghostly sailor took the form of a poltergeist and created general mischief. The entity was blamed for phantom footsteps, setting off alarms and even pulling one landlord from his bed. Folklore said that the sailor had said to have become delirious and had jumped to his death from an upper window in the 1870s, although during the 1930s, a visiting medium claimed the man had been thrown from the window during a robbery.

Further Comments: As they were leaving, the publicans spoke to the press about their poltergeist, who opened doors, shook tables and moved pictures. One member of staff had fled the cellar after believing he had seen a ghost.

Further Comments: The pub is haunted by an unearthly dark shape which hovers in the bar area. No one is too sure what exactly it is or what it represents.

Further Comments: When placed on the market in August 2023, this building's haunted background became a selling point. The sound of a child's giggling had been heard, glasses would smash without reason, and staff could feel something breathing on the backs of their necks.

Further Comments: As the pub closed for installation of a mini-cinema, landlord Rob Plunton said that the site was rumoured to be haunted but did not elaborate further. One story says that blood is said to run down the walls of the cellar.

The Eclipse.

Further Comments: Beheaded opposite the pub for assisting local rebels, the tall grey shade of Alice Lisle now haunts the area where she spent her last night on earth. This is one of three locations reportedly haunted by Lady Lisle.

Further Comments: This ghost, when flesh and bone, was turned away from the Tavern during a cold winter's night. She died soon after, and to take revenge, her ghost took up residence in the building. The spirit now pulls bedding off sleeping guests.

Further Comments: A photograph taken in this pub purports to show a strange man sitting in the background, slightly out of proportion to the rest of the environment. As the floor in the pub had just been raised, it has been suggested that this is the reason why the image looks slightly strange.
