Legend has it that if one runs around the cave known locally as 'Devil's Grave' widdershins three times, the Devil is raised! Another version says that running around it three times restores your virginity.
Alderley Edge - Likely to be around the B5087, but exact location not known
Several witnesses have reported seeing a short old man, with a long white beard, running around naked in this area. Apparently, the figure was once approached by a police officer, only to vanish into thin air.
Alderley Park - Churchill Tree public house
The poltergeist who slams doors shut and breaks the occasional glass has been nicknamed George. Shouting has also been heard, although no source found. It is speculated that the entity is connected to the site being used as a hospital during the First World War.

Arley - Arley Hall

An aged figure has been observed on the site, puffing away at the demon weed. Some members of the cast and crew from BBC's Peaky Blinders were reported in the press as hearing a ghostly dog which haunts the site, shot dead by a gamekeeper after it killing its owner.
Audlem - Audlem Road leading to Corbrook Court

This entity manifested twice to the same witness, exactly a year separating the sightings. While driving down the road, the witness spotted the strange looking figure on the roadside, who stared into the car as he drove past. The figure did not appear in the rear view mirror.

A black-clad woman with a veil, spotted several times walking the roads in the village during the early hours of the morning, became a talking point. One newspaper speculated the woman was less ghost and more practical joker.

Little is known about this phantom. One witness, returning from market with her pony and cart, described it as a large white 'thing'.

Beeston - Wharton Lock Bridge

A hooded figure crossing the bridge was spotted by a witness as she closed the lock gate. The woman's husband, travelling under the bridge at the time, did not see anything, but felt immense sadness and experienced a tingling on his face at the same time.
Birkenhead - Private residence close to the A552
Prior to renovation, a ghostly woman would be seen in the house.
Birkenhead - Woodchurch Road
Dressed in black and wearing a bonnet, an older lady would be briefly seen along this road before suddenly vanishing. A newspaper reported cyclists had to break sharply to avoid hitting her. Other witnesses spotted a small ball of fire which quickly disappeared.
Bollington - Ingersley Vale Mill
The mill is reputedly home to the ghost of a female worker who died in a machine accident.
Bollington - Private house along Grimshaw Lane
A former occupier of this house witnessed the ghost of an old lady who would stand in the corner of the kitchen. A phantom man would move around the property at night, and banging could be heard - the taps always coming in threes.
Bollington - Ye Olde No. 3 public house
The ghostly woman once reported here was said to be on the run from the police, and she drowned in a flooded stream nearby. A little girl was seen by a former landlady, who said the entity was dressed in blue, wore a poke bonnet, and walked straight through a closed bedroom door.

A ten year old girl pointed out a figure running across a nearby field to her mother, saying the word 'jogger'. The mother looked and could see the person in black moving towards them, but as it approached, realised that the 'jogger' wore a monk's habit and no face under his hood. The figure stopped a short distance away, as if paused in mid-sprint, and when the woman turned to check her daughter was okay (she had run off back to the boat), the monk vanished.
Boughton Heath - Roads in the area
Darting out from the side of the road, this speedy figure crosses in front of oncoming cars, before vanishing on the other side.
Brereton - Body of water known as Blackmere, close to Brereton Hall

Before the death of a member of the family, tree trunks would be seen floating in the water. Occasionally the water would also turn red.
Bunbury - College Lane
A ghostly man on horseback is said to cross the lane before vanishing.

Burton Constable - Burton Constable Hall
The phantom nun said to haunt this building walks near the area of a secret passage. Her portrait hangs in the Nun's Room.
Burtonwood - Old airfield
An airman has been observed standing around with no head - it is thought that he was decapitated as he tried to bail prior to crash landing.
Capesthorne - Capesthorne Hall
A group of grey shadows have been seen heading towards the vault, while a grey lady walks the building's corridors. One member of the family reported seeing a severed arm floating outside a window, trying to enter.
Capesthorne - Monk's Heath
A witness reported driving past an old monk standing on the side of the road. The figure did not appear to have any feet. As the witness pulled the car over and climbed out, the monk disappeared.
Chester - Barlow's public house, aka Ye Old Vaults, 28 Bridge Street (no longer operational)
Blamed on a former landlord, the haunting here consisted mainly of banging sounds and loud groans.
