Dusty Shoemaker's Son

Further Comments: Taffy, a shoemaker's son, entered a fairy circle on this mountain and danced for ten minutes before leaving. As he walked back to the village, Taffy realised he did not recognise any of the buildings, and on the site of his parents' cottage, an old farmhouse now stood. Taffy told his story to the farmer and then, as time caught up with him, turned to ash.


Dancers

Location: Pencarreg (Dyfed) - Area close to a mountain

Further Comments: A large number of fairies dancing in a field were spotted by a group of people intending to play football. The fairies moved away to another field, and when they realised the people were following, became invisible.


Lad on Horseback

Location: Pencoed (Mid Glamorgan) - Roads in the area
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Circa 1902
Further Comments: The lad was said to resemble a 'farmers son' and would ride his horse through the village around midnight. Man and steed would gallop through the area completely silently.


Fiddler

Location: Pendine (Dyfed) - Green Bridge Cave

Further Comments: Said to have entered the cave but never to have left, the ghostly fiddler's music can still be heard.


Martha

Location: Pengwern Arms public house (Gwynedd) - Llan Ffestiniog

Further Comments: This community run pub is reputedly the home of a ghost named Martha, who has been blamed for creating cold spots, disembodied footsteps, and spooky knocks.


Lass in Apron

Location: Penhow (Gwent) - Penhow Castle

Further Comments: A phantom young girl dressed for a kitchen has been reported in the great hall.


Crested Dragons

Location: Penllyn (South Glamorgan) - Penllyn Castle, and surrounding woods
Type: Dragon
Date / Time: 1800s
Further Comments: The dragons (or winged snakes, according to other sources) here were once said to be quite common, if not a little shy. They snacked on the local produce, especially chickens, and sparkled and shimmered when escaping farmers. They were hunted to extinction. It has been suggested that the winged snakes were misidentified pheasants or peacocks and not native to the area until introduced by the English.


Angry Fairies

Location: Penmaen (West Glamorgan) - Pennard Castle (ruins)

Further Comments: The owner of this former castle once refused the local fairies the right to dance at his wedding party. The upset little people conjured up a massive storm which then destroyed the building. The site is now home to a Gwrach-y-rhibyn.


Green Light

Location: Penmaenmawr (Clwyd) - Old house near railway station
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Early twentieth century?
Further Comments: A room in this house was said to be haunted by strange sounds and the feeling of overwhelming terror. Two men who stayed in the room to witness the haunting watched a green/yellow light manifest and grow to a huge size, before it grabbed the throat of one man and tried to strangle him.


Winged Snakes

Location: Penmark (South Glamorgan) - General area
Type: Dragon
Date / Time: Nineteenth century
Further Comments: An old woman claimed that her grandfather had fought and killed a winged serpent in this area. The man had skinned the creature, though the evidence had been thrown away after his death.


Tricked Dragon

Location: Penmynydd (Gwynedd) - General area
Type: Dragon
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Paid by a nobleman to rid the area of a dragon, a local lad dug a deep pit and at the bottom he placed a brass mirror. The creature fell into the hole and, believing it had met a rival, fought its own reflection before falling exhausted. This enabled the boy to decapitate the monster with no further problems.


Arthur's Horse

Location: Pennal (Gwynedd) - Carn March Arthur (close to Afon Dyffryn Gwyn)

Further Comments: A rock along this river is said to feature hoof prints where King Arthur's horse landed after leaping across the (now drained and removed) estuary.


Gwrach-y-Rhibyn

Location: Pennard (West Glamorgan) - Pennard Castle

Further Comments: This old hag is said still to haunt the ruins here.


Bronwen

Location: Penrhiwgoch (Dyfed) - Hills in the area
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Bronwen committed suicide after her brother and her lover managed to kill each other in a dual. Her fair haired ghost still wanders the hills.


Cwn Annwn

Location: Penrhos (Gwent) - General area

Further Comments: This Welsh demonic hound has been reported in the area.


Screaming Priest

Location: Penrhyn Bay (Clwyd) - Penryhn Old Hall
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Screams can be heard from this building; a priest who was hung, drawn and quartered in a nearby field is the most likely source. Other reports say that the hall is also haunted by a phantom girl on the staircase and an old soldier.


Paperwork

Location: Penrhyndeudraeth (Gwynedd) - Royal Oak public house

Further Comments: Visitors reportedly heard paperwork being shuffled, occasional screams, and encountered the spirit of a young girl during a ghost hunt at the public house.


Singing Fairies

Location: Pentraeth (Gwynedd) - Mynydd Llwydiarth

Further Comments: Heard singing on the mountain and from the nearby lake, these fairies were very rarely seen.


Man in the Road

Location: Pentreuchaf (Gwynedd) - Road in the area
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Winter (reoccurring)
Further Comments: Both young and smart in appearance, this male walks along the middle of the road, causing oncoming traffic to stop before he vanishes into thin air.


Funeral Attendee

Location: Penybank (Powys) - Exact location not known
Type: Crisis Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: A shopkeeper returning home suddenly heard wailing and was pushed along by something unseen. He managed to move to one side of the road and escape the force, although he could then perceive a phantom funeral procession. He knew several of the faces of the crowd, and then recognised himself. Once home, he told his wife and a couple of friends about the encounter. Exactly two weeks later, the shopkeeper's neighbour died, and the witness found himself in a real procession which contained everyone he had previously seen.


Winged Snake

Location: Pistyll Rhaeadr (Powys) - Waterfall

Further Comments: A flesh eating serpent that lived on top of the waterfall was killed by locals who antagonised the beast until it attacked a scarlet cloth that concealed jagged spears.


Roman Soldier

Location: Plas Pren (Clwyd) - Stone Bridge

Further Comments: To see the Roman guard standing on the bridge will bring death shortly after.


Sleeping Arthur

Location: Pont Nedd Fechan (Mid Glamorgan) - Craig-y-Ddinas, cave system

Further Comments: This location is another contender for the place where King Arthur and his knights lay sleeping.


Former Member

Location: Pontardawe (West Glamorgan) - Unknown road and meeting room of a Friendly Society
Type: Post-Mortem Manifestation
Date / Time: Early 1879
Further Comments: A widow of a man who committed suicide was denied financial compensation from the Friendly Society as the manner of his death breached their rules. The dead man appeared to one of the society's members walking along a road and demanded his wife receive money before ripping the member's clothing. The voice of the dead man could be later heard during a meeting of the society, stating the only way he could rest was if his widow received her money.


Hanging Judge Jeffreys

Location: Pontblyddyn (Clwyd) - Plas Teg
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: As well as the notorious judge's ghost drifting around the building, one witness has also reported seeing the shade of a young blonde girl. She also haunts the road outside the building, causing passing motorists to stop sharply. The road in turn is also haunted by three horsemen.
