Misty Shape

Location: Mold - Boar's Head public house
Type: Haunting Manifestation

Further Comments: A photograph taken by the Cheshire Paranormal Society purports to show a misty figure standing in the bar area, though some argue that the image shows nothing more than lens flare.

Armoured Man

Location: Mold - Bryn yr Ellylon (also known as Goblin Hill) barrow (no longer present)
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Excavated 1833, last sighting early twentieth century?
Further Comments: A warrior in golden armour was said to haunt this area - when the barrow was excavated, a large man in bronze and gold armour was found buried within.

Gold Figure

Location: Mold - Chester Road, bank known as Byrn-yr-Ellyllon (Goblins' Hill)
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Early eighteenth century
Further Comments: A woman walking back from Mold along this road spotted a figure wearing a coat made from gold. The apparition disappeared into a bank of earth. A few years later the bank was dug up, revealing some human remains and a piece of golden armour.

Dancing Lady

Location: Mold - Moel Famau
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 2000s
Further Comments: This entity is said to have been seen dozens of times. Dressed in blue and dancing merrily, the woman radiates a calming influence.

Little Girl

Location: Mold - Party Shop, High Street
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 2008
Further Comments: This shop is said to be haunted by a little lass who leapt from the attic window after being locked in the room. The entity is blamed for the malfunctioning till and the occasional apport.

Pint Puller

Location: Mostyn - Lletty Hotel
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: A phantom woman appears behind the bar and pulls pints (whether the pints are real is unclear). A former patron who played the piano is now responsible for the ghostly sounds of tinkling the ivories.

Woman in Black

Location: Nannerch - A541, near the Rising Sun Inn
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 1990s
Further Comments: Wearing a long black gown with a hood concealing her face, this ghostly woman has been seen along this road several times of the past one hundred years. She either steps from the nearby bushes and vanishes while standing in the road or walks into the dense undergrowth.

Guiding Light

Location: Nannerch - Moel Arthur Hill
Type: Legend
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: An unearthly ball of light is said to periodically appear on the hill to lead treasure hunters to a mass of treasure buried somewhere here. However, once the digging site is reached, a violent storm will spring up and drive the would-be raiders away. The hill is another contender for the final resting place of Boudicca.

John Edward

Location: Nercwys - Tower mansion
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: July 2009
Further Comments: Spirit Quest UK visited Tower and claimed to detect twenty spirits within the building, including Edwardian John Edwards, a nurse maid, a dog which sits on the staircase, and a freemason. The team's equipment recorded music, voices and the sounds of something being dragged.

Throwing Stones

Location: Old Colwyn - Farm in the area
Type: Poltergeist
Date / Time: 1893
Further Comments: Stones would seemingly fall from nowhere and land in milk churns as a farmer tended to his herd of cows. The farmer asked friends to help, but even as they kept watch, the stones still fell and landed in the milk. Eventually forty people joined the watch, and the stone throwing ceased.

Green Light

Location: Penmaenmawr - Old house near railway station
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Early twentieth century?
Further Comments: A room in this house was said to be haunted by strange sounds and the feeling of overwhelming terror. Two men who stayed in the room to witness the haunting watched a green/yellow light manifest and grow to a huge size, before it grabbed the throat of one man and tried to strangle him.

Screaming Priest

Location: Penrhyn Bay - Penryhn Old Hall
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Screams can be heard from this building; a priest who was hung, drawn and quartered in a nearby field is the most likely source. Other reports say that the hall is also haunted by a phantom girl on the staircase and an old soldier.

Roman Soldier

Location: Plas Pren - Stone Bridge
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: To see the Roman guard standing on the bridge will bring death shortly after.

Hanging Judge Jeffreys

Location: Pontblyddyn - Plas Teg
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: As well as the notorious judge's ghost drifting around the building, one witness has also reported seeing the shade of a young blonde girl. She also haunts the road outside the building, causing passing motorists to stop sharply. The road in turn is also haunted by three horsemen.

White Lady of Prestatyn

Location: Prestatyn - Promenade, between Nova and Festival Gardens (and close by)
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Circa 1990s / 2000s
Further Comments: Some believe this pale woman to be a nun. She has been both seen sitting while reading a bible and drifting through the area.

Monks

Location: Rhuddlan - Area near old Norman graveyard
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: July 1953
Further Comments: Before the discovery of the graveyard, a man returning home (from the local pub) encountered several ghostly monks on the path before him - he was forced to dive out of their way!

Knightly Demon

Location: Rhuddlan - River Clwyd area
Type: Legend
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: A 'legend' tells of a beautiful princess, living at Rhuddlan Castle, who fell in love with a strange knight. Instead of marrying a prince (and ensuring peace between nations), she ran off with the knight, only to discover that he was in fact a demon. Before she could escape home, he killed her and threw the body into the river. The sound of her screams is said still to echo at night. Unfortunately, the 'legend' is a piece of fiction written by Ann Julia Hatton nee Kemble, also known as Ann of Swansea.

White Woman

Location: Rhyl - Start of the Dyserth Road bends
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 1 January 2005, 01:30h
Further Comments: The white figure of a lady was seen standing behind a wall, leaning over the top.

Afanc

Location: River Conwy - Llyn yr Afranc (aka Beaver Pool)
Type: Cryptozoology
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Afanc was a monster, thought to resemble a beaver, which attacked locals and dragged them to the bottom of the river. The beast was defeated after being tricked into sleeping by a fair maiden.

Human Sacrifice

Location: River Dee - Waters of the river
Type: Legend
Date / Time: Once a year
Further Comments: It is said that once a year the water monster hiding here demanded three human sacrifices to prevent it from terrorising the local neighbourhood.

Old Jeffrey

Location: Rossett - Golden Lion public house
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: This ploughman was tried and executed for murder; his body nailed to a wooden board which would later be used in the construction of this pub. His ghost reportedly prefers to frequent Room 2.

Jack Swan

Location: Rowen - Bwlch y Ddeufaen
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Swan was hanged for robbing and murdering Jesse Robert - Swan was caught after being discovered with Robert's watch. An old legend says Swan's ghost would be attracted to anyone passing by with a watch, so locals would remove their time pieces if travelling by.

Grey Lady

Location: Ruthin - Ruthin Castle (hotel)
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Weather Dependent: Clear nights
Further Comments: This lady was married to a fifteenth century steward at the castle - she decapitated her husband when she discovered him with a younger woman. In turn, she was beheaded for the act of revenge, and now the spook makes fleeting appearances at the former fortress. A man in armour is also occasionally reported.

Old Man

Location: Ruthin - Three Pigeons Inn
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: When the inn was put up for sale in 2016, one of its USPs came in the form of two ghosts. One was said to be an old man who sat in an armchair, the other a teenager.

Crocodile

Location: St Asaph - Cefn Caves
Type: Cryptozoology
Date / Time: 1870
Further Comments: Measuring around one hundred and forty centimetres in length, a crocodile was said to have been killed by a local man in this cave.
