Containing the world famous university town, Oxfordshire is located in South East England and is only 768 square miles in size. Part of the once large Mercia kingdom, the county also played an important role during the English Civil War. The county town of Oxford - nicknamed 'City of Dreaming Spires' - has attracted many ghosts and haunted buildings, as have the surrounding towns and villages.
