Red Eyed Dog

Further Comments: The large black dog here has glowing red eyes. It has walked passed two witnesses without interfering with them, suggesting a benign entity.


 
Blessing

Location: Santon - Fairy Bridge
Type: Fairy
Date / Time: Still present
Further Comments: It is considered unlucky not to say 'good day' to the fairies as you cross the bridge. In recent years, people have begun to leave gifts and notes on a nearby tree for the fairies.


 
Spherical Object

Location: Sea between Isle of Man and Belfast - Sky
Type: UFO
Date / Time: February 1985
Further Comments: A captain, first officer and flight engineer of an aircraft flying from Belfast to the Isle of Man reported a bright white spherical object that became an orange beam.


 
Phynnodderee

Location: Snaefell - Tholt-e-Will, Snafield mountain
Type: Fairy
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: The phynnodderee, also known as a fenodyree, started to help someone build their home but fled the area after a gift left for the fairy unbound it from the site.


 
Little People

Location: South Barrule - South Barrule hill

Further Comments: The south facing side of the hill are said to be where the vast majority of the island's fairies and pixies live. It is also said that a giant sleeps under the hill, cursed by Merlin.


 
Headless Raiders

Location: Spanish Head - The Chasms
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Twenty four soldiers sent to kill the king met their demise at this location. Their headless ghosts were said to have encountered a farmer looking for a lost sheep. The farmer passed out as the spirit's daggers touched his neck, and when he awoke he found a red mark there that never faded.


 
Witch Wind

Location: St Johns - Slieu Whallian (hill)
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: The truth may be unknown, but it has been said that witches were tortured here by being placed in large barrels filled with spikes and rolled downhill. Their cries now haunt the area.


 
Pirates

Location: St Michael's Island - Church, and nearby ruins
Type: Legend
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: It is said if you knock on the church, one can hear the screams and cries of a group of pirates. These men were killed on the nearby rocks as they tried to escape with the church gold. The nearby ruins are haunted by the drowned people buried around the site. They have been seen sitting on the rubble and walking inland from the sea.


 
Four Legged Beast

Location: Western coast - Sea
Type: Cryptozoology
Date / Time: 1910
Further Comments: The Captain of the HMS Caesar reported seeing a reptilian creature leaping out the sea, which he compared to a 'skinned chow dog'(!), though much larger in size.
