Grey Lady in Cellar

Location: Lowestoft - 36 The High Street
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: Both 35 & 36 reportedly have a grey lady that haunts their cellars - the buildings were once knocked into one, but are now currently separate again.


 
 


Woman in Long Dress and Mob Cap

Location: Lowestoft - 55 High Street
Type: Unknown Ghost Type
Date / Time: 1974, November 26
Further Comments: Seen only twice, on the same day, this apparition was seen in the upper part of the house. A builder watched her climb the staircase to the second floor at midday, while both the owner and his dog ran from the form when they encountered it at 17:00h.


 
 


Man Walks through Wall

Location: Lowestoft - Former Birds Eye Foods building, Rant Score
Type: Post-Mortem Manifestation
Date / Time: 1970s
Further Comments: Seen by a couple of kitchen workers during the 1970's, the origin of the figure that walked across the room and through a wall is unknown. The area has long been haunted before Birds Eye moved in, mostly by poltergeist behaviour moving around boxes of fish.


 
 


Tommy

Location: Lowestoft - Grange Farm, Henstead
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Misty evenings
Further Comments: Seen on marsh fields with another horse at night, Tommy died several years previous, though still enjoys grazing alongside his former friends.


 
 


Drunken Fisherman

Location: Lowestoft - Jubilee Bridge
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: A drunken sailor, in a vain attempt to impress his girlfriend, tried his hand at balancing on the handrail of the bridge - he failed, fell and died. It is now said his dying moans can be heard when you stand under the bridge.


 
 


Hooded Figure

Location: Lowestoft - Mariners Street
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 1960s onward
Further Comments: Rumoured to have once been the site of a priory, this road and the buildings along it have been long haunted by a hooded figure, described by some to be a woman.


 
 


Uniformed Man

Location: Lowestoft - North Deans - World War Two defences
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 2006
Further Comments: A phantom man dressed in uniform has been spotted here, pointing out to sea.


 
 


Edward Rollahide

Location: Lowestoft - North Quay West
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 1920s?
Further Comments: Rollahide died in a drunken rage; swinging a weapon at a fellow worker he was playing cards with, Rollahide lost balance and fell into a large pool of cement where he drowned. His ghost is now said to occasionally appear in the area, dripping cement.


 
 


Man in Benny Hat

Location: Lowestoft - Road running by the church near Corton Caravan Park
Type: Post-Mortem Manifestation
Date / Time: Mid 1980s
Further Comments: Two witnesses in a car were convinced they had run over a man who stepped out in front of their car. Described as wearing a 'Benny' hat and having an unforgettable face, they searched the area but could find nothing.


 
 


Strange Figure

Location: Lowestoft - Roman Hill Middle School
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: During a particularly misty day, a pupil at the school reported seeing a figure which walked through the wall of the school.


 
 


Protected by Insurance

Location: Lowestoft - Royal Falcon Hotel
Type: Poltergeist
Date / Time: 2002?
Further Comments: After the noisy spirit was alleged to have moved glasses across the bar, the landlord of this establishment made the news when he requested insurance against damages caused by poltergeist activity in his pub.


 
 


Monk-Like Figure & Cold Blast of Air

Location: Lowestoft - The Anchor
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 1976
Further Comments: A figure dressed in monk's garb has been seen in the bedrooms of this building, accompanied by a drop in temperature and gusts of cold air.


 
 


Woman in Period Dress

Location: Lowestoft - Unnamed shop along high street
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: 1960s?
Further Comments: While coming down from the second to the first floor, one man passed a woman in period dress ascending the staircase. Only when the man reached the bottom of the staircase he realised what had happened.
